Sketchy Advent: God With Us in Creation

Genesis 1:1-2:2

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. — Genesis 1:1-2:2

In the beginning, God was there.

Before anything was, he was. And throughout the creation process, he was intimately involved. He didn’t mix some chemicals, stand back and wait to see the results. No, he oversaw each step and crafted creation.

And he is still involved in creation.

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. - Col 1:17

Take a moment to notice God in creation

Advent can be a busy time and God can feel distant.

But God is always present. Taking a moment to notice the beauty of creation, the warmth of a sunrise or the awe of a mountain top can make us aware of his presence. We can even find him in small details like those of leaves.

Take a moment to appreciate God’s creation.

Creator God, thank you for the universe you have made in all its glory. Help us to notice your handiwork in all you do. Amen.
