Lent day 11: perfect peace
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you. (Isaiah 26:3 NIV)
In our fast-paced world, it can be easy to become overwhelmed by the storms of life. We can find ourselves struggling to keep our heads above water, feeling like we're constantly being tossed around by the waves. In these moments, it's important to remember that we have an anchor that can hold us steady, even in the midst of the most violent storm.
Isaiah knew a lot about the storms of life.
He saw the Assyrian threat coming to Israel and Judah as well as speaking about the Babylonian exile. These were massive empires without mercy. And neither Israel nor Judah were living in line with God.
But Isaiah proclaimed peace within these storms.
He called the people to live in line with God’s ways and to see his blessings.
Isaiah 26:3-4 reminds us that if we trust in God and keep our minds fixed on him, we will experience perfect peace. The kind of peace that can only come from knowing that our anchor is secure, and that our hope is firmly rooted in the solid rock of God's love and faithfulness.
Sailing through the storms of life isn’t easy or pleasant, but we can still navigate them with God’s peace.
Prayer
Father, thank you for your peace that surpasses all understanding. Thank you that no matter what is going on in the world, you are the rock I can count on. Give me your peace today and help me fix my eyes on you, no matter what I face.
Amen.
